Jenny King joined WCSN (later becoming e-Schools’ Network) as Technical Assistant to the Technical Director. As changes within the organisation happened she became Technical Director 3 months after joining the organisation.
In 2001 she became the Director of the organisation which is the position she still holds. Jenny is the event co-coordinator for the biennial ICTS in Educational conference, which is supported by the Western Cape Education Department.
Jenny King has been involved in the computer industry for the last 20 years, first as a programmer and then as a corporate trainer. Her desire for learning led her to join Western Cape Schools’ Network, which later became e-Schools’ Network in 1997 to explore Internet and email. This passion has grown and lead to a desire to improve the situation for schools in South Africa through the implementation of educational ICTs and its effective use.
World Bank funded Jenny’s attendance to e-Learning Africa conference in Ghana 2008 to give a presentation on ICTs in South African Schools. Jenny is currently organising a modem project to provide 300 South African schools with a free ADSL modem, 1 GB of bandwidth per month for a year and SchoolMail.
Jenny is also an elected committee member of the SAIF Western Cape.
